About the Author
Mark W. Johnston is the Alan and Sandra Gerry Professor of Marketing and Ethics in the Roy E. Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. He earned his Ph.D. in Marketing in 1986 from Texas A&M University. Prior to receiving his doctorate, he worked in industry as a sales representative for a leading distributor of photographic equipment. His research has been published in a number of professional journals including Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Marketing Education, Journal of Personal Selling & Sales Management and many others. Mark is also an active member in the American Marketing Association and Academy of Marketing Science. Mark has been retained as a consultant for firms in a number of industries including personal health care, chemical, transportation, hospitality, and telecommunications. He has consulted on a wide range of issues involving strategic business development, sales force structure and performance, international market opportunities, and ethical decision-making. Mark also works with MBA students on consulting projects around the world for companies such as Tupperware, Disney, and Johnson & Johnson. He has conducted seminars globally on a range of topics including the strategic role of selling in the organization, developing an ethical framework for decision-making, improving business unit performance, and structuring an effective international marketing department. Mark continues to provide specialized seminars to top managers on strategic marketing issues. For more than two decades Mark has taught Marketing Management working with thousands of students. His hands-on, real world approach to marketing management has earned him a number of teaching awards.

Greg W. Marshall is the Charles Harwood Professor of Marketing and Strategy in the Roy E. Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. He also serves as Vice President for Strategic Marketing for Rollins College. He earned his Ph.D. in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University, taking a marketing major and management minor, and holds a BSBA in marketing and MBA from the University of Tulsa. Prior to joining Rollins, Greg was on the faculty at the University of South Florida, Texas Christian University, and Oklahoma State University. Prior to returning to school for his doctorate, Greg’s managerial industry experience included thirteen years in consumer packaged goods and retailing with companies such as Warner Lambert, Mennen, and Target Corporation. He also has considerable experience as a consultant and trainer for a variety of organizations in industries such as hospitality, financial services/insurance, defense contracting, consumer products, information technology, government, and not-for-profit. Greg has been heavily involved in teaching Marketing Management at multiple universities to both MBA and undergraduate students and has been the recipient of several teaching awards both within his schools and within the marketing discipline. He is Editor of the Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice and from 2002-05 was Editor of the Journal of Personal Selling & Sales Management. Greg serves on the editorial review boards of the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Industrial Marketing Management, and Journal of Business Research, among others. Greg’s published research focuses on the areas of decision making by marketing managers, intraorganizational relationships, and sales force performance issues. Greg is Past President of the American Marketing Association Academic Division and also was a founder and served for five years on its Strategic Planning Group. He is a Fellow and Past-President of the Society for Marketing Advances, presently serves as President-Elect for the Academy of Marketing Science, and is a member of the board of directors of the Direct Selling Education Foundation.

Meh.

I originally bought this book in order to prevent me from divorcing my wife. This book taught me how to market and advertise her. It ended up saving me a bit of money in the long run. I sold her online to a prince in Nigeria. And I didn't lose half my stuff!

Relationship Selling is true blueprint for building a succesfull sales organization.

The authors Mark W. Johnston and Greg W. Marshall have done an excellent job in providing a true blue print for building a customer focused sales organization. They have provided the necessary detail that will allow the reader to build a very fundamental and functional knowledge of the sales consultative process.

I am using this text for my Salesmanship and Sales management class.

I needed this for a Master's level Marketing class. It isn't at all hard to read and contains some good info... hiding among some high school level 'features'. If you need it you need it. It's probably good if you want to learn how to do sales.

wtthis book is a must read i dian romance. happening in it company in india i felt the book is a well analysed fiction depicting real lives of it executives. the characterz are so real. there is good humour and romance. the climax is really exciting and fast paced. lo ed reading this book by abhimanyu

Changed my perspective of Life & Love

Romance yet again! Given that my take on romance changed after reading plenty of beautiful books, I decided to go ahead and read this book. Thankfully, I don’t regret my decision at all.

I have a soft spot for writers from my city. After all there are not many of that lot. This particular writer obviously is a hardcore Chennaite and has portrayed the beauty of the city – The lush Anna University campus and the beautiful foliage of Theosophical society.

Moving on to the important part – The story line. The summary was a bit misleading. I was expecting “a miracle worker” swamiji who would “use his powers to cure people”. Alas! there came this super cool practical and logical swamiji. Initially the characters were a bit confusing. But as the story progressed, things cleared up.
The writer has done a commendable job in handling multiple story lines belonging to each character. The shift of times lines were also smooth and easy to follow. But more than the story line, the emotions were over powering. There was a practical connect thanks to realistic and heavy emotions – love, hurt, anger, sorrow, disappointment, helplessness and joy.

One character that is worth the mention is sawmiji. The concept of brining in a swamiji into a romance genre of sorts may sound rather absurd. But the writer made a brilliant decision to do that in the form of a corporate trainer. After all, swamijis handling corporate aren’t unheard.

It’s again obvious that the writer has some insight about the functioning of IT companies, their organisational culture and the usual “corporate training programs”.

My only complaint – the editing could have been a wee bit better.
Overall, the book was neat, logical and practical.

VERDICT: Go ahead pick it up. It might even change your perspective of life and love.

The best guide in coin collecting

I started getting the Guide Book of United States Coins (or as many who collect coins call it "The Red Book") back in 2014. I love this book. It has great information on the history of US coins, mintage numbers, good pictures of errors, variations of coins, other notes about certain coins especially rarer ones, and as far as I know, covers every US coin ever minted.

Now, you may be asking, what changes year to year that you feel the need to get one every year? To be honest, not that much. They do update the prices of coins based on market conditions including spot prices of metals used to mint coins, and they also add coins new minted coins. But other than that, not a whole lot changes from year to year.

I use this book as a stepping off point for pricing buying and selling coins. You may want to do a little other research along with this book when buying coins, but having this book has helped my find some amazing deals, and has steered me away from making bad buying decisions.

Beginner in collecting coins, and this book has everything a beginner needs from the parts of a coin to a description and price range, also history on each type of coin. Love it! I feel like a pro after reading it lol. And lots of pictures.

Helane Freeman, an award-winning illustrator and art director, graduated with honors from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. At the tender age of 14, Helane began selling her paintings, and her work soon adorned the walls of her local bank, a beauty parlor and a real estate office. An examination of the Nigerian Civil War.

This is a rather dated book about the Nigerian Civil War. The book was written during the war, so there is no detail on the end of the war. There have been few books about this disastrous war where over a million people died in combat or by starvation.
Forsyth does a good job of damning the then Nigerian military government and the British Labor government. In this Civil War, food became a valid weapon as the Nigerian government starved out and caused the deaths of millions of innocent civilians. The rest of the world turned away because of British propaganda about the evils of the Biafrian government. In addition, the massacres of captured Ibo civilians and soldiers is a damning indictment of genocide against the Nigerian government (composed of Northern Nigerian Muslim tribesmen) fronted by Colonel Gowon.
Forsyth shows in stark contrast the two governments and their leaders. Gowon is pictured as a front man for the Northern tribes sultans. Ojukwu is shown as a leader of the Ibo tribesman, seeking a democratic council with the other minority tribes in the governing of Biafra. Ojukwu is shown as civilized, using democratic principles where Gowon condones mass murder for the sake of putting down the rebel movement. Gowon is interested only in Biafra for the oil it contains, and not the people.
Forsyth writes in a slanted way. One realizes he is for the Biafrian government, and the book is structured toward proving the Nigerian government is evil and the Biafrians are good. This book could have been more objective and this is why I rated it a three star. In addition, an outcome of the Civil War would also be great for latter editions.

Best of Biafran history books

Forsyth does an excellent job in this book. He understands that it is necessary to examine closely the social, political, and tribal underpinnings in the conglomeration known as Nigeria, in order to fully understand the Biafran secession in context. Without being polemical he systematically examines these areas and offers compelling reasons for the war, instead of automatically resorting to specious Marxist or other dogmatic reasoning. The Nigerian Civil War was an important and tragic event, and Forsyth does a thorough and careful job of explaining it to us.

Gr. 1-3. On the hottest day Mr. Wright's class has ever seen, the teacher gives punctuation a vacation! Insulted, the punctuation marks take off, and a few days later postcards arrive from Take-a-Break Lake. The kids want to write back, but they can't without any punctuation. Borrowing the unruly marks from the class next door, they write a letter begging the marks to return, a letter filled with usage errors that effectively makes their case. Childlike acrylic paintings on canvas "punctuate" the zaniness by turning the marks into characters whose banter exemplifies the marks' use. The messages on the postcards further typify usage (e.g., "Do you miss us? How much? Why couldn't we take a vacation sooner? Guess who?"). A straightforward list of punctuation rules rounds out this inventive and entertaining device for getting kids to understand usage, which proves that nothing makes sense without punctuation. Right? A Story With All The Right Marks!

This was a great book. It really shows how important punctuation is when writing. Punctuation takes a break from its work in a classroom and soon the students find that their world is a little more crazy without the marks to make it mind. The story line was well thought out and the list at the end of the book is a great teaching tool. The illustrations are wonderful. I also enjoyed the personality traits given to the individual marks of punctuation.

A World Without Punctuation?

This is a great tool for showing children the importance of punctuation in a fun format. In this book a teacher decides to give punctuation a vacation. Postcards arrive and the reader has to guess which form of punctuation wrote it to the class. Children are able to make connections to the chaos of not having punctuation and how it impacts understanding. Fortunately, punctuation returns and classroom life is much improved. I recommend this book.
