David Hancock has studied dogs for more than half a century in more than 20 countries. He is the author of 12 previous books on dogs, including Gundogs, Sighthounds, and Sporting Terriers, and more than 750 articles publishing in national and international magazines. In 2009 he won the annual award of the Dog Writers' Association of America.

Of interest to shepherds' dogs enthusiasts

A great and long awaited book by Col. Hancock and glad to see it finally out. A must read for those who are interested in shepherds' dogs of any breed, and not just herding dogs either, but LGDs. The one quibble I have is that it feels somewhat disorganized. But all the information is there.
