My son lost his HS textbook so I went online to get a new one cursing the fact that the schooldistrict would make us pay for a brand new one any way chose this seller practically at random but figured the price was so reasonable what could i lose. Well the book came quickly and was in better condition than the old one. two weeks later the old one showed up but now my son doesnt have to carry it back and forth to school I think we'll buy his other textboks from this seller now to save his back. one set in school one set at home

About the Author
B. P. Lathi holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and was previously a Professor of Electrical Engineering at California State University, Sacramento. He is the author of eight books, including Signal Processing and Linear Systems, 2nd edition (2004) and Modern Digital and Analog Communications Systems, 4th edition (2009, with Zhi Ding).

Roger A. Green is an Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at North Dakota State University. He holds a PhD from the University of Wyoming. He is co-author, with B. P. Lathi, of Signal Processing and Linear Systems, 2nd edition.

Great book with shortcomings

Since my undergraduate days more than 40 years ago, I have been a fan of Professor Lathi's books. In general they cannot be beat for clarity, lucid explanations, and solid example problems. For these reasons they are excellent for reference and self-study. Unfortunately, this book falls somewhat short when compared to his others. First, there are some inconsistencies of some definitions from earlier books to this one. For example in 'Signal Processing & Linear Systems' the Sinc function is defined as Sin(x)/x, here it is defined as Sin(Pi x)/(Pi x). Both are legitimate definitions just not consistent from one book to the other. My other major gripe is that there is no answer key to the example problems at the back of each chapter. There are for the Drill problems but these are sparse. For those who use a book for self-study problem answers are critical for complete understanding of the material. Answer keys are usually only available for course instructors. The usual answer for this is that instructors need the answers so that they can use them for homework or exam problems. Any instructor who cannot make up their own test problems should look for another line of work. One star off for the issue of definitions and one star for lack of an answer key.

I absolutely loved learning from this book. The topics covered are thoroughly explained with vivid examples and practice problems. The MATLAB integration makes learning DSP very exciting and applicable! My DSP course was one of my favorites because of this book. I would highly recommend it!

About the Author
Parallel to an international law career in Germany, Switzerland and the United States, Dr. Peter Fritz Walter (Pierre) focused upon fine art, cookery, astrology, musical performance, social sciences and humanities. He started writing essays as an adolescent and received a high school award for creative writing and editorial work for the school magazine. After finalizing his law diplomas, he graduated with an LL.M. in European Integration at Saarland University, Germany, and with a Doctor of Law title from University of Geneva, Switzerland, in 1987. He then took courses in psychology at the University of Geneva and interviewed a number of psychotherapists in Lausanne and Geneva, Switzerland. His interest was intensified through a hypnotherapy with an Ericksonian American hypnotherapist in Lausanne. This led him to the recovery and healing of his inner child. In 1986, he met the late French psychotherapist and child psychoanalyst Françoise Dolto (1908-1988) in Paris and interviewed her. A long correspondence followed up to their encounter which was considered by the curators of the Dolto Trust interesting enough to be published in a book alongside all of Dolto’s other letter exchanges by Gallimard Publishers in Paris, in 2005. After a second career as a corporate trainer and personal coach, Pierre retired as a full-time writer, philosopher and consultant. His nonfiction books emphasize a systemic, holistic, cross-cultural and interdisciplinary perspective, while his fiction works and short stories focus upon education, philosophy, perennial wisdom, and the poetic formulation of an integrative worldview. Pierre is a German-French bilingual native speaker and writes English as his 4th language after German, Latin and French. He also reads source literature for his research works in Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and Dutch. In addition, Pierre has notions of Thai, Khmer, Chinese and Japanese. All of Pierre’s books are hand-crafted and self-published, designed by the author. There being no crimes lying around for her to solve, she mooches off home and eats cookies instead. She enjoys dead languages, not-dead cats, fizzy drinks, preparing for the apocalypse, and board games. She is obsessed with mysteries, science fiction, and fantasy books, as long as they involve snappy dialogue and females who can deliver it.

Great writing, characters, plot, and storytelling!

Spent a day riding the high seas with the Darren (reluctant Pirate Queen) & Lynn (unexpectedly eager hostage of sorts). Darren and her small crew of misfits (with a few sailors on board to keep the keel down and the sails up) have been doing what they can to rescue civilians in the midst of an everlasting war among feudal lords. Then Lynn arrives and, despite her insistence on being Darren's hostage and slave ("my what and what?"), the young woman with the mysterious past manages to drive their pirating to new levels of success.
The plot is original, and the dialogue will make you laugh out loud. The characters are real - all of them. And the story is assembled like a Yankee field wall: no plaster or mortar, just a clear eye and a solid fit meant to last a 100 years! [Standing ovation here, with lots of shrill whistling!!!] Thanks for the great read. Looking forward to many more!

Not a Game

I love this writer. Nothing is as you would expect. One lead is not the brightest of sparks but has a good heart. The other lead is irritatingly witty. Put them both together and there is mayhem and fun. But then...it isn't.
This author gets you thinking. Characters might behave in an unusual or unique way, but when faced with certain situations they react realistically. The reader starts out on a rollicking ride but is then yanked up by situations that are very real and hard to deal with. Some situations are so raw, gritty and in-your-face that I had a very difficult time getting through those patches. Benny Lawrence slaps you in the face with reality, but does it with style.

Kinky lesbian pirates. Hell yeah!

Well, that was a rollicking bit of fun. A bloody good story, with excellent characters. I bled with them, quaked in fear with them, and danced with joy towards the end. The dialogue is entrancing, and the twists and turns leave you breathless. But it's not all fun, and that's a good thing. There's some serious social comment buried in here. You don't have to take notice of it, but I did, and found it enhanced an already good story. Well worth the read. I'm off to see what else Benny has written.
